Essential Duties & Responsibilities



  • Perform installation, start-up, maintenance, and repair on industrial combustion systems and fuel trains.
  • Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance in accordance with company protocols and NFPA safety standards.
  • Calibrate, test, and tune burner management systems (BMS), combustion control systems (CCS), and process instrumentation.
  • Perform precise burner tuning and PID loop tuning to optimize combustion performance and energy efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot combustion systems including BCS, BMS, DCS, and PLC-based platforms (e.g., Honeywell 7800, Fireye).
  • Conduct complete combustion analysis including burner control optimization and drafting assessment.
  • Interpret and work from schematics; troubleshoot systems in the absence of documentation.
  • Support combustion-related field service work for packaged burner skids and combustion control panels fabricated by Relevant Industrial and Control Specialists LLC.
  • Train colleagues and customers on the proper operation of combustion systems.
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA 54, NFPA 58, NFPA 70, NEC, UL, and site-specific safety standards.
  • Complete all service documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment both in the field and at the shop.


Qualifications & Skills



  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification preferred.
  • 3+ years of field experience with industrial combustion systems.
  • Functional knowledge of combustion controls, fuel trains, burner tuning, PID loop tuning, BMS/CCS systems, PLCs, and combustion analysis.
  • Familiarity with NFPA, NEC, and UL codes relevant to combustion and control systems.
  • General understanding of PLC programming and automation integration.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% nationwide, including overnight stays.


Physical Requirements



  • Regular movement around customer facilities and work environments including standing, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Frequently lifts and moves equipment up to 60 lbs.
  • Occasional work in elevated areas or confined spaces.
  • May exert force of 50-100 lbs. occasionally, 25-50 lbs. frequently, and 10-20 lbs. constantly.


Work Environment



  • Field service role with regular work at customer job sites.
  • May require overtime, weekend shifts, or on-call availability.
  • Exposure to hot or cold temperatures, loud environments, and industrial hazards.
