Job Description

Position Summary: The Industrial Press Specialist is responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical and hydraulic presses rated at 150 tons and above. The specialist will also lead and execute preventative maintenance (PM) activities to ensure press reliability and safety across the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

* Operate and maintain large-scale mechanical and hydraulic presses (150+ tons).

* Perform press setups, including die installation and alignment.

* Inspect tooling components such as punches, dies, and buttons for immediate repair.

* Conduct routine and extensive scheduled preventative maintenance on all presses.

* Troubleshoot press malfunctions and perform mechanical and some electrical repairs as needed.

* Maintain accurate maintenance records through a digital platform.

* Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve press performance and uptime.

* Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and lockout/tagout procedures.

* Train junior technicians or operators on press operation and maintenance best practices.

* Work with the Quality department for first piece/article inspection and determine run times.

* Assist quality department to ensure that parts being made during production are within tolerance, adjusting when needed to minimize error and downtime.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications:

* High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.

* Minimum 3-5 years of experience operating and maintaining large mechanical/hydraulic presses.

* Strong knowledge of tool and die components, including punches, dies, buttons, shimming techniques.

* Proficient in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

* Familiarity with press control systems and safety interlocks.

* Experience with PM programs and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).

* Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

* Maintain an organized and clean workspace to identify potential areas of risk.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience with presses from manufacturers such as Bliss, Minster, or Niagra.

* Welding or machining experience is a plus.

* OSHA 10 or 30 certification.

* Familiarity with lean manufacturing and 5S principles.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to draft reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and understand company part prints.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Analytical troubleshooting is key.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database systems, Microsoft Office.

* The employee must regularly lift and /or move objects. Objects over fifty (50) pounds will require assistance from other staff or mechanical assistance.

* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment

* Exposure to loud noise, heavy machinery, and industrial lubricants.

* Requires use of PPE including safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toe boots.

* May involve standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods.

Additional Information

Shift: M-Th 6:00am-4:30pm EST
