JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Tressa Nese and Helen Diskevich Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence (CGNE) at the Penn State Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing is seeking an efficient, organized, and team-focused individual with administrative and event-planning skills to join our team as a part-time administrative support assistant. This position will promote our center's mission by proving essential functions related to planning and facilitating various programs of education, research, and service. It will also provide essential support for center operations and infrastructure by creating reports, organizing office files, processing expenditures, facilitating meeting resources, and other administrative duties.

Job duties to include:
  • Routine documentation: tracking conference support; maintaining/updating membership lists, PowerPoints, and student lists.
  • Communications: drafting routine emails, sending event reminders, updating mailing lists.
  • Scheduling: scheduling of meetings, reserving space for in-person meetings, coordinating calendars with team members and collaborating partners.
  • Recordkeeping: participation in CGNE Leadership Meetings; documentation, maintenance, and sharing of meeting minutes; maintaining inventory of CGNE giveaways, print materials, and resources.
  • Basic expenditures/finance tracking: purchasing office supplies, processing expenditures, ordering giveaways and print materials, tracking invoices, maintaining spreadsheets for center spending.
  • Event logistics and coordination: facilitating room reservations, flower orders, AV setup; preparing materials such as registration lists, nametags, and handouts.
  • Outreach and service support: assisting with onsite logistics for events such as CGNE Spring Brunch, Jolly Gero Gift Givers, Walk to End Alzheimer's, and other CGNE outreach events.
Requirements, qualifications, and/or competencies:
  • High school diploma or GED required; some college education preferred.
  • A strong command of Office 365 suite, Adobe, and MailChimp, is desired.
  • Knowledge and experience related with the study of aging (gerontology or geriatrics), healthcare-related environments, community organization, or health care delivery is a plus, but not required.
  • We seek a professional who can work independently while collaborating effectively with diverse stakeholders in a respectful, responsive manner.

CGNE is an interdisciplinary community of clinicians, educators, scientists, and learners whose leadership actively involves improving care and quality of life for older adults in the United States. Our center engages in innovative strategies to advance the practice of gerontology through education, research, translation of best practice, outreach/service, and strategic partnerships.
