Job Summary: Under the direction of the Plumbing Supervisor, the Plumber is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and testing of plumbing and fire sprinkler systems. This role will also provide emergency response for these systems and management of the plumbing and fire sprinkler inventory.



Essential Responsibilities:



  • Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems in Parks facilities, buildings, pools, and grounds.
  • Inspect plumbing systems, report defects, perform routine spring startups and fall winterizations of buildings, shelters, pools, splashpads, and golf courses.
  • Perform utility locates for plumbing utilities, sewer, and water.
  • Inspect and maintain all equipment, tools, and items related to the performance of job duties.
  • Utilize electronic work order system as well as other computer related programs.
  • Inventory supplies and review blueprints, building codes, and technical manuals.
  • Assist with project management, maintain logs, and ensure safety codes and regulations are followed.
  • Participate on special project team.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.



Minimum Requirements:



  • Current resident of Wisconsin.
  • Possession of a valid Wisconsin Driver's License, able to be maintained throughout employment.
  • Possession of a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • Completion of a state recognized plumbing apprenticeship program.
  • Journeyman Plumber with at least five (5) years of experience with competency in repair and diagnosis of plumbing systems.
  • Possession of a Wisconsin Journeyman Plumber License.
  • Possession of a Wisconsin Cross-Connection Assembly Tester Certification.
  • Basic knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 75 lbs.
  • Willing and able to work a regular and/or frequent on-call schedule.



NOTE: This original application is open to permanent residents of the state of Wisconsin at the time of application. In accordance with Section 11, Rule 3 of the Civil Service Rules a non-competitive examination will be held for this position. The non-competitive examination will consist of criteria deemed appropriate by the Director of Human Resources.
