Engineering Manager

What a typical day looks like:



  • Take leadership during the entire life cycle of automation projects, from concept to feasibility and from fabrication and test to production
  • Define, develop and deploy automation into Flex sites
  • Design the layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency and safety
  • Design and engineer moderate and complex automation equipment, tooling and applications
  • Prepare RFQ's and solicit quotations from automation suppliers
  • Evaluate supplier quotations to determine the best combination of technical solution, cost and timing
  • Develop budget and schedule for projects and manage projects to stay within them
  • Able to quickly cost analyze and work up the financial justification for automating
  • Conduct equipment design reviews and provide design guidance to suppliers
  • Manage automation suppliers through all phases of projects
  • Provide on-site support during machine build, debug and testing/qualification
  • Supervise installation and testing to verify requirements and specifications are met
  • Draft qualification protocols and support equipment qualification activities
  • Develop manufacturing solutions with the best combination of manual, semi-automation and/or full automation
  • Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow
  • Implement cost effective automation solution
  • Support new product development automation needs, facilitate assembly processes through the implementation of assembly cells and automated equipment at NPI stage and ensure meeting development timeline
  • Interface with customers and functional owners on product development issues regarding automation
  • Conduct design-for-automation analysis and provide detailed recommendations
  • Participate in design reviews and provide status reports as per established schedule
  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to the operation of the automation equipment



The experience we're looking to add to our team:



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science
  • Requires a minimum of 5 years of engineering experience, including broad-based management and supervision
  • Great leadership and communication skills
  • Experience in an FDA regulated manufacturing environment (Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, Food or Consumer industries)..
  • FDA Audit Experience (Preferred)
  • Experience with high volume, automated manufacturing (Preferred)
