Overview

The Infrastructure Solutions Architect is a technical leader responsible for designing, developing, and implementing a wide range of technology architectures and solutions that align with the organization's strategic vision. This role provides expert guidance on technology frameworks to IT executives and business partners, ensuring solutions are aligned with established strategies and roadmaps. Additionally, the Solutions Architect leads and supports key infrastructure functions, including network, security, and application frameworks, while serving as a senior-level resource across IT infrastructure and communications.



Responsibilities

Principal Accountabilities & Deliverables

    Design and develop holistically appropriate technical infrastructure solutions
    • Align with IT strategic direction and priorities
    • Research, recommend, and master new technologies selected
  • Provide technical direction, project leadership, documentation, and senior level engineering as it relates to the IT infrastructure
    • Effectively communicate IT Infrastructure technology vision & roadmap
    • Implement change management practices that help team members understand and become motivated to adopt new technologies
    • Provide technical guidance regarding short and long-term technology strategies and system capabilities
  • Participate as a key member of the IT Architecture Review Board
  • Develop, update and help implement IT Infrastructure architecture policies, and operating standards
    • Monitor compliance and influences changes to standards when necessary
    • Cultivate a culture of security
    • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to the infrastructure support teams
    • Collaborate with IT Security to respond to, and address, security concerns
  • Act as a Team Lead for the design and implementation of infrastructure and security related systems, leading and directing the work of others
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, analyze and resolve infrastructure and security related problems
    • Escalate through appropriate channels
    • Provide proactive updates and communications to stakeholders
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education / Experience
* Bachelor's degree in information systems management, computer science, engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience with demonstrated ability (required)
* Minimum seven (7) years of systems engineering experience, with technical leadership for large-scale projects (required)
* Advanced knowledge and understanding of cloud architecture, system design, and integration (required)
* Minimum three (5) years' experience with Microsoft technology stack, cloud platforms (Azure), and leading diverse technology portfolios (required)

Skills
* Expertise in IT infrastructure architecture (on-premises and cloud)
* Familiar with Data Center Operations (power, cooling, rack management)
* Familiar with network switching, routing, firewall, and Intrusion Prevention Systems
* In-depth understanding of network protocols
* Proficient with Azure Networking
* Expertise with Active Directory and EntraID
* Expertise with VMware and Windows Server operating systems
* Proficient in Microsoft 365, including Exchange, SharePoint, and Teams
* Proficient with Backup technologies and Storage Area Networks
* Proficient in scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python, etc.)
* Experienced in automation/orchestration (e.g., Azure DevOps, CI/CD, Ansible, StackStorm, etc.)
* Strong knowledge of disaster recovery and business continuity
* Experienced in IT infrastructure maintenance, patching, and change management
* Familiar with regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, FERPA, GLBA) for data integrity and privacy
* Knowledgeable in Linux-based systems preferred
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Project, Visio)
* Foster positive relationships with key stakeholders to ensure support and commitment to project objectives
* Outstanding people skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills
