Job Summary

To drive margin expansion and build muscle to scale and accelerate the growth of the Detection and Analysis business line, Novanta is seeking a Vice President and General Manager. The Vice President & General Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of the business line and owning the full P&L in a matrixed environment. This includes direct responsibility for Commercial, Product Management, Engineering, and Marketing. With indirect responsibility for Operations, HR, and Finance. The Vice President & General Manager will lead the Detection and Analysis leadership team and will hold a key role in Novanta's overall Precision Medicine leadership team. Novanta is looking for a leader that is humble, hungry and smart in addition to being a self-sustained high-energy, hands-on leader.

The Vice President & General Manager will lead a team of approximately 120 people with locations in Syracuse, NY, Bedford, MA and Lake Oswego, OR and Brno, Czech Republic. The Vice President & General Manager must be a hands-on player/coach working at all levels of the organization, and capable of delivering profitable growth across multiple sites. This role will support the President in implementing and communicating a high growth market strategy. The ideal candidate must have a proven track record within various functional experiences and knows how to create value translating strategy to execution.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Deliver sustainable and profitable growth as business scales organically and inorganically.

  • Reduce business complexity, craft and execute new product roadmap and grow market share in strategic segments.

  • Demonstrate customer centric mentality and behavior, build deepen and expand penetration in key accounts.

  • Continuously improve processes and set up strong business foundation through Novanta Growth System tools.

  • Coach and develop individuals and teams that propagate knowledge and share information while fostering a culture of collaboration across and down through the organization.

  • Effectively deliver results in matrix organization through collaboration, influence and crisp communication.

Required Experience, Education, Skills and Competencies

  • Responsible for leading businesses with global P&L responsibility of 75M USD or higher.

  • Demonstrated experience driving business unit growth through organic, inorganic, new go-to-market strategies, and white space expansion.

  • Proven commercialization and expertise in hospital workflows and, real-time location services (RTLS)

  • Experience in channel selling products / solutions into hospital connected care workflows.

  • Operating experience in an OEM business model within a matrixed environment.

  • Global leadership experience

  • Entrepreneurial, high growth environment orientation.

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technology discipline.

  • MBA or other advanced degree is highly preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

  • The salary for this position ranges from $243,696 - $335,082 per year depending on the geographic region.

  • Dependent on the position offered, annual bonuses and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of the compensation package.
