Job description

Top 3 must haves:



  1. Lead the full validation process-create DVPs, update with DFMEA inputs, run tests, and drive improvements.
  2. Be hands-on with tools-set up DAQs (Data Acquisitions), run diagnostics, and build basic automation setups.
  3. Good communication to work closely with system engineers and test vendors to get tests done right, on time, and within budget.


Top 3 nice to haves:



  • Experience with CAN Tools and Diagnostics - CANAlyzer, CANOe etc.
  • Basic Scripting or Programming Skills - Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW scripts for data parsing, test automation
  • Mechanical Aptitude and understanding of Electrical systems - Comfortable working around fixtures, prototype hardware, and performing mechanical adjustments or troubleshooting.



Responsibilities:



  1. Validation Planning & Criteria Development:


    1. Develop and manage comprehensive validation plans for mechatronic systems and sub-systems, ensuring all design and performance requirements are met.
    2. Establish testing criteria for accurate and reliable results, including sample size, statistical analysis, and attribute vs. variable testing.


  2. Test Plan Development:


    1. Create detailed test specifications and plans for validating automotive mechatronic systems.
    2. Update validation plans to incorporate new requirements or design controls arising from DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) reviews.


  3. Component and System Validation:


    1. Perform validation testing on mechatronic components (sensors, actuators, controllers) and sub-systems.
    2. Control and monitor vehicle mechatronic systems during tests, identifying and troubleshooting potential failures.
    3. Collaborate with development engineers to resolve issues identified during validation testing.


  4. Vendor Collaboration & Test Procedure Review:


    1. Work closely with external testing vendors to quote, source, and schedule validation tests that are in accordance with program budgets and timelines.
    2. Review and ensure that all test procedures vendors conduct to meet the requirements and company standards.


  5. Data Logging & Analysis:


    1. Set up data logging systems to collect relevant test data and manage test reports according to record retention policies.
    2. Analyze test data to identify performance metrics, deviations, and potential failures, providing recommendations for improvement.


  6. Hands-on Prototyping & Testing:


    1. Develop CAD models with special project team for validation-specific tools, including fixtures and applicators, to support testing processes.
    2. Continuously improve and revise test methodologies, incorporating feedback and lessons learned from prior testing.


  7. Report Management & Continuous Improvement:


    1. Catalog, prepare, and manage external and internal test reports, ensuring accuracy and adherence to validation policies.
    2. Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to testing processes, tools, and methodologies, staying current with industry trends.



Qualifications:



  • Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in automotive testing and validation, mainly focusing on mechatronics systems.


Technical Skills:



  • Hands-on experience with Mechanical & Electrical lab tools & lab equipment
  • Experience with test equipment, control, data acquisition systems, and instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of vehicle diagnostics tools (CAN, LIN) and automation programming for testing.
  • Data analysis skills using MATLAB, Python, Diadem or other analysis tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills & Experience with Electrical and mechanical Hardware troubleshooting.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Hands-on experience with test automation using Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and other embedded platforms.
  • Experience using Jira, Jama, Confluence
  • Experience with test automation and CAD design for validation tooling
