The McNew Lab of Disease Ecology at the University of Arizona is looking to hire a skilled and enthusiastic seasonal field technician to assist a Ph.D student with fieldwork in Southeastern Arizona from early to mid-January through early to mid-April 2026. This project explores the causes of susceptibility to ticks and tick-borne pathogens in local Arizona birds and whether ticks evolve predominantly to their host or external environment. Southern Arizona is home to a unique community of bird species and ecosystems and is an excellent natural laboratory to investigate these questions.
This position is expected to run from early to mid-January through early to mid-April 2026. Outstanding UA benefits include health, dental, vision, life insurance and disability programs; access to UA recreation and cultural activities; and more!
