The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary

The Department of Dermatology seeks candidates to join Abaci laboratory research team as Research Technician B. Our lab focuses on developing advanced skin tissue models and grafts for disease modeling and skin transplantation, specifically 3D skin tissue engineering projects. This is an excellent opportunity to join a vibrant, diverse, and collaborative team of basic and translational investigators. The candidate will work under the direct supervision of the PI and a postdoctoral researcher.

Responsibilities



  • In vitro culture of primary skin cells from discarded human skin.
  • Generation of 3D skin constructs and other bioengineered tissues.
  • Decellularization of skin tissues.
  • Assistance in the analysis of the components of the skin using immunofluorescence, ELISA based assays, and other basic cell biology techniques.
  • Assistance in the preparation of samples for in vivo grafting studies.
  • Organization of data for presentations and publications.
  • Detailed record keeping of all lab activities, including the planned experiments.
  • Maintenance of tissue culture room and equipment used by the senescence team.
  • Ordering, inventory and other duties necessary to the functioning of research projects.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in bioengineering, biology or a related program, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience in decellularization, 3D-printing, and CAD modelling.


Other Requirements



  • Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques.
  • Passion for culturing and observing mammalian cells.
  • Great pipetting skills.
  • Ability to write and present data in national and international conferences.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
