The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary

The Department of Pathology and Cell Biology and the Taub Institute for Research on Alzheimer's Disease and the Aging Brain at Columbia University Medical Center invite applications for a Tech-B position in the laboratory of Dr. Natura Myeku. The lab is focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms of Alzheimer's disease and developing therapeutic strategies to correct dysregulated protein clearance pathways using both cellular and mouse models.

We are seeking an experienced Technician B to join our team. The successful candidate will play a central role in conducting experiments, maintaining animal models, and applying biochemical and molecular biology approaches to study protein clearance and neurodegenerative disease mechanisms.

This position offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment at Columbia University Medical Center, with direct impact on advancing our understanding of Alzheimer's disease mechanisms and therapeutic discovery.

Responsibilities



  • Investigate dysregulated protein clearance mechanisms in animal models of Alzheimer's disease.
  • Perform biochemical, histological, and enzymatic assays from primary cell cultures and animal tissues.
  • Carry out molecular biology techniques, including in vivo work with rodents.
  • Culture primary neurons and perform immunohistochemistry and western blotting.
  • Work both independently and under the direct supervision of the PI.
  • Contribute to maintaining a collaborative and organized laboratory environment.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology or physics or a completed animal husbandry program or equivalent in education, training and experience.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Knowledge of various related laboratory procedures and techniques preferred.
  • Master's degree in Neuroscience or a related field.
  • Prior experience in a neuroscience-focused laboratory.
  • At least two years of relevant laboratory experience.
  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, including rodent handling, primary neuronal culture, immunohistochemistry, and western blotting.
