SUMMARY
The supervisor provides oversight to the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program. Staff involved in this program address concerns that arise in long term care facilities throughout Montgomery County. There are many nursing facilities, personal care homes, assisted living facilities, older adult daily living centers and domiciliary care homes in the County and the State requires that visits be made to each of these on a regular basis. They also address concerns related to the provision of long-term care services in the community.
In addition to supervising Ombudsman staff, extensive work is done in coordinating several qualified volunteers, as well as PEER volunteers (residents trained as advocates) who are involved in providing support to the program. Recruitment and involvement with the volunteers are essential due to the large number of facilities throughout the County.
All care managers as well as the supervisor must have extensive working knowledge and expertise in documenting case information via the statewide database system.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides ongoing supervision to workers involved in Ombudsman Program.
Staff is interviewed, trained, hired, and evaluated.
Coordinates the Volunteer Ombudsman Program through regular meetings, guidance, and the provision of technical assistance.
Routine and serious problems are addressed and resolved in a timely and professional manner.
Required documentation is completed by staff and by the supervisor in the state database in a timely manner meeting all requirements.
Regularly interacts with various community organizations to disseminate information regarding the program to generate referrals, to resolve issues, and to increase collaborative efforts within the community.
Performs other duties as required to maintain office functioning.
This position requires the following clearances as a condition of employment: Child Abuse History Clearance, PA Criminal Record History, and FBI Fingerprint Clearance.
Onsite in-person attendance is required as directed by Supervisor or Admin.istrator
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Three years of experience in public or private social work and a bachelor's degree; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training including successful completion of 12 semester hours of college level courses in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related social sciences.

Ability to work in all weather conditions. Occasionally, it may be required to do Medium Level and/or Heavy Level physical work that would include reaching, walking, pushing, pulling and lifting. They must be able to drive to appointments throughout Montgomery County on a regular basis.
They must be able to carry a laptop to meet with consumers to assess their needs. They must be able to sit for extended periods of time to complete extensive case record documentation. Case documentation is done via a computer.
