TekSystems is currently hiring for a Medical Financial Counselor position in the Washington, DC area! MUST HAVE: 2-3 years of medical insurance verification and authorization experience, any case management experience is a huge plus! Description The department of Transplant is looking for someone to help out with their Financial Coordinating team. This position will fulfill more of a care coordinator/ case management side of responsibilities. They will be primarily be working with the Small Bowel Team and helping with the Kidney Department. Primarily responsible for follow-up from the patient, to insurance company, to clinical staff. Assisting patients on the small bowel waitlist, following up on existing and active authorizations. Working with patients out of state and may be working with Medicaid, or be responsible for multiple authorizations per patient (depending on number of testing's/ procedures needed). Huge advocating piece of this position, must be comfortable speaking on the patients behalf to the clinical staff, insurance companies, and hospitals! Depending upon how those conversations go, they will need to do some financial counseling to the patients. Talk to them about what the Insurance company has said, what their options are, and answer any questions they may have about the situation. They must be comfortable working with the patients, because it is a huge part of the role. Additional Skills & Qualifications No specific classes or degrees needed, but always a plus. Really wants them to have done Insurance Authorization and had Patient interaction. 2+ years with this experience preferred. Top 3 skills: 1. Care coordination/case management 2. Experience with single case agreements 3. Insurance/ authorization experience (this can be trained) Will be working with a umber of different people in different levels of the Transplant team. Must have good organization, attention to detail, thick skin, and empathetic with patients. Must be outgoing and good communication skills. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
