We're currently hiring for a *Patient Access Representative* position in *Detroit, MI*, working in the *Central Registration* area at Detroit Hospital. This is a fast-paced role supporting over 20 specialty clinics, where you'll be responsible for patient check-in/check-out, registration, insurance verification, and financial clearance.
*Schedule:* Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (with holiday rotation) *Contract-Hire, Weekly Pay while on contract * *Training:* Approximately 4 weeks *Key Responsibilities:* * Perform scheduling, registration, pre-admission, admission, reception, and discharge functions. * Accurately collect and update patient demographic and insurance information. * Register patients and collect copays at the time of service. * Educate patients on financial liabilities and employ compliant collection techniques. * Ensure completion and explanation of hospital and legal forms (e.g., Advance Directives, Consent for Treatment, EMTALA). * Scan and file Protected Health Information (PHI); prepare patient information packets. * Schedule diagnostic procedures and provide appointment instructions. * Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility. * Obtain insurance authorizations and inpatient visit notifications. * Perform cash reconciliation and secure payment entry per financial policies. * Assist with post-discharge care coordination as needed. *Pay and Benefits* The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
