Join a small, dedicated team focused on building the Carolinas' first freestanding Children's Hospital.

Summary:

NC Children's is building a $3B freestanding children'shospital system/campus located in central NC. The Director of Finance provides strategic financial leadership,analysis, and insight to support the planning and operational activities of NCChildren's (NCC). This role partnersclosely with the NCC executive team to guide budgeting and forecastingprocesses, account for income from multiple sources (state funding,philanthropy, debt issuance, etc.) and track expenditures both on projectoperation and planning/construction activities.

The Director oversees all financial planningaccounting/reporting functions for NCC.

Responsibilities:
Strategic & Financial Leadership: Lead financial analysis, modeling, and reporting to support strategic decision making and major lines of business.
Provide guidance to senior leadership on financial performance versus budgets, forecasts, and long-term goals. Develop and implement strategies to increase funding, manage costs, and allocate resources effectively. Identify opportunities for productivity improvements, cost savings, and income generation.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Manage the project's annual budgeting and forecasting processes, including development of methodologies, dashboards, and business models. Prepare and submit budgetary requests within required deadlines; monitor financial performance against plan and recommend adjustments as needed. Drive accountability for results through ongoing measurement of actuals vs. budget.
Accounting & Compliance Oversight: Oversee preparation and review of financial statements. Ensure compliance with GAAP, GASB, state and federal regulations, and internal audit requirements. Interface with the State Auditor's Office and ensure accuracy and transparency in reporting.
Partner closely with finance leaders at UNC Health and Duke Health to ensure consistency and transparency in financial reporting. Oversee journal entries, accruals, and expense tracking to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Operational & Process Improvement: Lead initiatives to streamline financial processes, including automation, integration, and sourcing improvements. Summarize accounting and process issues, elevating risks to NCC COO with recommended mitigation strategies.

Education Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
* None required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
* Requires seven (7) years of progressive experience in health care budgeting/finance with three (3) years of management experience.
* Proven experience in managing multiple and complex projects.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
* Strong knowledge of GAAP, GASB, healthcare reimbursement, and fund accounting.
* Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to interface with executives, board members, and auditors.
