The Department of Pathology, Anatomy and Laboratory Medicine at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a (Hybrid) Program Specialist.

About the Opportunity

Provide administrative and clerical support to the Course Directors in the first and second year medical student courses in pathology, pathologist assistant course by managing, arranging, coordinating and supporting all instructors in all courses.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with medical directors and faculty for professional educations courses and program to assure operational coordination and compliance requirements. Collaborate with medical and course directors for PIF development and submission. Collaborate with medical and course directors in program policy development and implementation.
  • Direct daily operations for the educational operations to ensure coordination between various departments of the clinical, educational, outreach, research and leadership components.
  • Create and maintain professional education contracts, grant(s), and program budget in accordance with requirements set forth by state and federal educational oversight organizations.
  • Prepare, develop and evaluate strategic planning including planning for expansion of the professional education programs. Build relationships and work with both internal and external resources in order to further educational pr9grams visibility and to further participation. Formulate and implement relevant educational program policies, independently, in order to assure compliance to mission requirements.
  • Coordinate activities between various educational program(s) workgroups and educational program leadership. Facilitate timely communication between key personnel. Identify development opportunities for educational program(s) and with relevant UHA and OSP staff to develop clinical and research proposals.
  • Prepare and post lecture schedules each year. Make modifications as necessary.
  • Post all PowerPoint presentations to lecture schedule.
  • Schedule all faculty who lectured during each block to be present for a review session.
  • Arrange for TurningPoint questions if possible or have faculty present to answer student questions. Collect exam questions from faculty for each block exam. Attend the committee meeting to display questions and modify as necessary. Load questions into eCampus. Print, proofread and review for accuracy.
  • Print exam results and release scores (eCampus) after the test committee reviews. Provide feedback to faculty as to discrimination scores for each question.
  • Enter statistical data into question bank for each question. Prepare and maintain an Excel spreadsheet with block exam scores. Type and/or modify quizzes for each chapter in SOLE.
  • Schedule Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology Observerships for all students. Meet students and escort them to appropriate area. Check on status of autopsies each morning and post an announcement to SOLE for students to sign up. Meet students and escort to autopsy room.
  • Manage summer remedial course by overseeing tuition and registration, lecture updates, content and presentations. Oversee faculty and student weekly "Chats", reviews, final exam activities, grading and reporting requirements. Arrange for overnight accommodations for students to take shelf exam at end of Summer Remedial Course.
  • Assist course directors in the Pathologists Assistant program and Histotechnologist program with course preparations. This includes but is not limited to arrangement for rooms for class, typing and copying of handouts, typing, copying and administering examinations.
  • Prepare announcements and sign-sheet for Continuing Medical Education accredited conferences by using the departmental conference calendar.

Pay Grade: 16

Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Education or related field.
  • A minimum of six (6) months of experience in the following:
    • Project/task management
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
