Your Job

Koch Fertilizer Enid is seeking a self-motivated and driven Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist to help contribute to the ongoing success and growth of our safety culture at the Enid facility. As an EHS Specialist, you will be directly responsible for the support and oversight of one or more Safety programs at the Enid plant. As an influential leader, you will partner with operations, maintenance, construction/facilities, and other various team members to create sustainable safety improvements.

The Enid safety capability focuses on risk optimization, translation of compliance requirements, and both proactively and reactively Learning and Improving systems within the facility. We do this through the application of Koch's Principle Based Management philosophy and by partnering with a focus on areas of highest risk and stewardship opportunities.

What You Will Do

  • Partner with operations, maintenance, construction, and other various groups to challenge the status quo, achieve a shared vision for safety, identify opportunities, and develop improvement strategies.
  • Lead the application of OSHA standards and industry best practices and integrate them into the organization through management system ownership, routine interactions, and auditing.
  • Analyze safety data, metrics, and trends to identify areas for improvement and collaborate to develop strategies to prevent incidents and injuries.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify workplace hazards consistent with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Own safety-related programs: ensuring alignment with applicable regulations and requirements, implementing the plan, do, check, adjust mindset with involvement from those closest to the work.
  • Develop and deliver safety programs to enhance employees' awareness and understanding of Human and Organization Performance (HOP) and other safety-related content.
  • Utilize human and organizational performance principles and tools to assess and improve safety culture, identify organizational weaknesses, and develop strategies for continuous system improvement.
  • Foster a proactive safety culture by promoting Human and Organization Performance, employee engagement, participation in safety programs, and recognition of safety achievements.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Industrial Safety, Safety Engineering, or another safety related field OR 1+ years of experience in safety & health or engineering in a manufacturing or industrial facility

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to wear PPE in designated areas
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various types of weather
  • Ability to climb stairs/ladders up to 150 ft on occasion

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Certification in a Safety or Safety Related Field (ASP, CSP, etc.)
  • Experience with OSHA 1910, OSHA 1926, NFPA Codes, and/or ANSI
  • Experience and knowledge in recognizing and mitigating hazards
  • Experience with significant contributions to facility safety programs (committees, specialized groups, etc.)
  • Experience establishing sustainable systems for compliance and continuous improvement
