Job Summary

The Database Administrator IV is responsible for managing all phases of enterprise database operations. This includes planning, monitoring, tuning, securing, and deploying code across the organization's database infrastructure. This role ensures high availability, performance, and security of database systems while providing technical leadership and supporting continual improvement through automation and best practices.

This position is based in Leawood, Kansas, with remote eligibility.

What you will be doing:

Enterprise Database Operations

  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, monitor, and tune database systems and tools.
  • Develop and manage data access and security strategies.
  • Plan and manage database capacity and resource utilization.
  • Enforce database policies, procedures, and runbooks for operational consistency.

Development Operations and Deployment Support

  • Partner with development teams on versioning and deployment of database release code.
  • Review and validate production candidate code.
  • Create and implement templates for database deployment and configuration.
  • Advance automation practices for deployments, environment builds, and incident resolution.

Technical Leadership and Collaboration

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members.
  • Support the alignment of team activities with organizational goals and priorities.
  • Communicate complex technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Research and Continuous Improvement

  • Research emerging database technologies and platforms.
  • Recommend improvements to tools, processes, and practices.
  • Promote ongoing learning and adoption of modern technologies and approaches.

What we need from you:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field; or equivalent business and technical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with SQL Server technologies.
  • Proficiency in Azure or Cloud SQL technologies.
  • Expertise in database performance optimization, indexing strategies, and object design.
  • Strong skills in T-SQL development, debugging, and transaction management.
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery, clustering, and backup strategies.
  • Experience with SQL Server security concepts and best practices.
  • Experience with version control and source code management tools such as BitBucket or GitHub.
  • Experience with database modeling tools such as ERWin or ERStudio.
  • Automation experience using PowerShell or Ansible.
  • Experience with MySQL administration, data warehousing, and business intelligence concepts.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to recommend effective solutions.
  • Proven ability to provide technical leadership and mentorship.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with industry trends and technologies

What we also value (preferred):

  • 7+ years of experience in IT development environments.
  • 5+ years of experience in database technologies and administration.
  • 3+ years of advanced SQL Server expertise.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting the full project management lifecycle.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field; or equivalent business and technical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with SQL Server technologies.
  • Proficiency in Azure or Cloud SQL technologies.

Compensation

AMC provides a compensation range for open positions where required. Factors that may be used to determine actual compensation may include, but are not limited to, a specific skill set, relevant experience or geographic location. The compensation range for this position may be lower or higher in different markets based on business needs.

The compensation for this position is: $135000 - $150000
