What you'll do

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development and Capture Director to drive growth within the defense sector, specifically focusing on ground satellite communication products, services, and networking solutions.


The day-to-day

In this role, you will possess an extensive knowledge of military requirements, procurement processes and new technologies in the SATCOM domain. Your role will involve identifying, pursuing, and securing innovative business prospects with government agencies, defense contractors, and other essential partners.

  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans aligned with company goals and defense market trends.
  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities by conducting thorough market research, analyzing competitor activities, and assessing customer needs.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of high-quality proposals, ensuring alignment with client requirements and adherence to all government regulations.
  • Address specific challenges and opportunities in military ground SATCOM, updating terminals and applying commercial satellite capacity for a distinct hybrid service.

What you'll need

  • 10+ years' demonstrated experience in business development within the defense or aerospace sector, with a focus on government contracts and complex technology solutions
  • Proven knowledge of defense procurement processes, regulations (FAR/DFAR), and compliance requirements
  • Familiarity with International Business Development to include Foreign Military Sales, Direct Commercial Sales, Offset Obligations, ITAR, cultural nuances and practices, and US export controls
  • Consistent track record of successfully identifying, pursuing and securing new business opportunities in the defense market
  • Strong understanding of satellite communication technologies, including ground terminals, services and networking concepts
  • Familiarity with the challenges and trends in the military SATCOM ground terminal market, such as the need to modernize ground infrastructure and integrate new technologies like high-throughput satellites (HTS) and phased-array antennas
  • Experience with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce.com) and government contracting tools (e.g., GovWin, SAM.gov, DACIS)
  • Experience in Capture Management of large DoD programs as well as working with DoD prime system contractors/integrators
  • Previous experience in a military or government service background
  • Familiarity with emerging trends and technologies in space defense and cybersecurity
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
  • Proven negotiation, collaboration, and cross-functional leadership skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing or related field/military experience
  • US Government position. US Citizenship required
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or ability to obtain when administratively feasible
  • Ability to travel up to 50% both CONUS and OCONUS

Salary range

$185,000.00 - $291,500.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $222,500.00- $333,500.00/ annually
