Inside the Role Interns will gain knowledge and experience through exciting and real-life learning opportunities. We are looking for high performing and motivated individuals in various areas within DTNA organizations. DTNA internships begin each summer in May or June. The Brakes and Pneumatics group is a member of the Chassis and Vocational Engineering department and works to develop and design wheel-ends, brakes, brake-related control systems, air distribution systems, and the architecture that supports air and wiring harnesses across the vehicle chassis. The duties of this position focus on design of mechanical components for the Pneumatics team. Interns in this role may have the opportunity to transition into a full-time position subject to manager evaluations and business availability. Apply engineering and CAD principles to create designs that are reliable, serviceable, energy efficient, and competitive. Apply sound engineering judgment to perform custom engineering work and to support the manufacturing plants, quality assurance, and the service dept. Develop concepts to support future vehicles projects. Maintain and organize these solutions, document their use, and keep them up to date. Interface with our multi-tier suppliers and other groups such as Validation, Analysis, Compliance, Manufacturing, Sales, and Marketing, to ensure conformance of designs to specifications, customer expectations, engineering practices and government regulations. Lead and support efforts to foster an inclusive and welcoming workplace culture where everyone belongs Knowledge You Should Bring Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program or higher from an accredited college/university OR have recently graduated within 1 year of the position start date (May/June) Familiarity with CAD systems is required Program study in Mechanical Engineering or related field required Strong oral and written communication skills Solid organizational skills Creative mindset Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment #LI-Hybrid Where We Work This position is open to applicants who can work in (or relocate to) the following location(s)- Portland, OR US.
