Security Officer - Access Control

As a Security Officer - Access Control in Dekalb, IL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Food/Beverage, and more.

As an Access Control Officer with Allied Universal at a leading food and beverage location, you will help to deter security-related incidents by monitoring entrances, verifying credentials, and conducting routine patrols throughout the premises. Your visible presence will support a secure environment while providing outstanding customer service and clear communication to employees and visitors. This role is ideal for individuals who are comfortable using computers or tablets and are committed to supporting a positive workplace culture defined by teamwork, integrity, and reliability.

Job Schedule:

What You'll Do:

Use our proprietary scheduling platform to claim open shifts at client sites
• Support operations across a range of environments including commercial real estate, healthcare, and education
• Receive site-specific training and guidance from experienced teams
• Deliver consistent, professional security presence and customer service
• Be ready to fill in at short notice when urgent needs arise

Responsibilities:

• Provide customer service by carrying out security-related procedures and site-specific policies, and responding to emergency situations as appropriate.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner at the location.
• Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the facility and perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and promote a secure environment.
• Monitor access control points, verifying credentials and authorizing entry for personnel, visitors, and vehicles in accordance with established protocols.
• Document and report any unusual activity, security-related incidents, or maintenance issues observed during patrols.
• Collaborate with facility staff and/or law enforcement as needed to address security-related concerns or emergencies.
• Support site-specific operations for a food and beverage production environment, maintaining awareness of unique protocols and procedures relevant to the location.

Minimum Requirements:

• Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.

• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
