This position is for Parker Hannifin's Composite Sealing Systems Division, located in San Diego (Otay Mesa), California. The standard work hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 4:30pm; however, overtime may be required based on business needs.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Materials Associate I prepares and verifies outgoing shipments by accurately comparing items against shipping documents and ensuring compliance with specified methods. The associate assembles containers, labels packages, and secures shipments for transport. The associate actively participates in team goals and continuous improvement initiatives, ensures efficient production flow and adherence to quality and safety standards, and maintains a safe and inclusive work environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Verify accuracy by comparing identifying information and counting, weighing, or measuring items designated for outgoing shipments against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other relevant records.
• Adhere to the shipping methods specified in shipping documents.
• Apply shipping labels to packed cartons or use stencils to mark shipping information on the cartons.
• Assemble corrugated containers or select pre-assembled containers as necessary.
• Place items into the designated containers.
• Secure covers on wooden crates using nails and binds containers with metal strapping.
• Record weights and shipping charges and apply the appropriate postage.
• Examine outgoing shipments to ensure compliance with specified requirements.
• Operate tier lift truck or use a hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping to storage or work area.

• Comply with Parker's Quality policy and processes to ensure compliance to ISO, AS, and MS certifications.

• Adapt to changing production demands or shifts in priorities while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Foster an inclusive and respectful workplace by treating all team members with dignity and respect.
• Follow established safety and environmental policies, procedures, and methods applicable to the work area.

• Work collaboratively with team members and actively participate in High-Performance Teams (HPT), Kaizens, and other Lean initiatives to drive continuous improvement initiatives and enhance operational efficiency.

• Perform other duties as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

• Forklift certification, preferred

Experience:

• 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferred

• 1+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, or materials handling, preferred

Skills:

• Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions, correspondences, and memos in English.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other team members of the organization.
• Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area to promote efficiency and safety.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with other team members.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, such as algebra and geometry, for measurements and quantities.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Ability to adapt to changing tasks and work assignments in a fast-paced setting.
• Ability to understanding and adhere to quality standards in production processes.
• Ability to use inspection equipment, tools, and gauges.
• Ability to read and understand bar graphs for department metrics.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds regularly.

• Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time.

• Ability to frequently bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods of time.

• Ability to use hands and fingers for detailed work over extended periods of time.

• Ability to perform repetitive tasks with a focus on accuracy and efficiency for extended periods of time.

• Ability to wear required PPE throughout the entirety of the shift.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This role is subject to compliance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), which requires the incumbent to be either a US citizen, lawful permanent resident ["green card" holders] or have refugee or asylee status).

Competitive Compensation

• Pay Range: $18/hr to $28/hr
• Participation in Annual Incentive Program
