This position is for Parker Hannifin's Composite Sealing Systems Division, located in San Diego (Otay Mesa), California.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The intern will work in the supply chain/procurement department and will provide support to various supply chain functions. This role will provide the intern with valuable experience in supply chain processes, data management, and inventory management. This is an entry-level position, and the intern will receive guidance and mentorship from the supply chain team. The intern will also have the opportunity to learn about the manufacturing industry and gain valuable experience working in a fast-paced environment.

The internship is designed to be a full-time on-site position for the 2026 summer semester. The start and end date for the internship is flexible.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Analyze inventory, vendor performance, and supply chain metrics to inform decisions and forecasts.
  • Process material requisitions and purchase orders, ensuring compliance with departmental procedures and approvals.
  • Expedite orders and coordinate with vendors to confirm delivery dates and required quantities.
  • Build and maintain strong vendor relationships; negotiate returns, replacements, and resolution of rejected materials.
  • Support new product launches, system implementations, and continuous improvement projects across the supply chain.
  • Assist in the development of user manuals and training materials for supply chain systems.
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute ideas for system improvements.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations on project progress and results.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and recommend solutions to streamline operations and reduce costs.
  • Prepare and maintain procurement documentation (price change reports, debit memos, freight claims) accurately.
  • Take responsibility for the quality and safety of assigned work while adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Follow established safety and environmental policies, procedures, and methods applicable to the work area.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree or Master's in supply chain management, or related field

Experience:

  • Manufacturing experience, preferred
  • Previous internship, preferred

Skills:

  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to apply innovative thinking toward problem resolution.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and manage organizational and time management tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to demonstrate willingness to learn and take initiative.
  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and as part of a team as a self-starter.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as SQL, Python, or Java is a plus.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to use hands and fingers for detailed work over extended periods of time.

  • Ability to wear required PPE throughout the entirety of the shift.

SALARY INFORMATION:

Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations. Pay Range: $17.25 - $24.00 per hour.

TOTAL REWARDS:

This position is not eligible for benefits.

This role is subject to compliance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), which requires the incumbent to be either a US citizen, lawful permanent resident ["green card" holders] or have refugee or asylee status).
