If you have a disability and need assistance with the hiring process and require reasonable accommodations, please contact Human Resources at 870.575.8400 .Department:Student Support Services Department's Website:Summary of Job Duties:The Specialist will provide administrative program support to the TRIO program in the area of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields, and provide one-on-one academic coaching, group tutoring, and educational support and services to students enrolled in the program. Additional responsibilities include updating and maintaining electronic and paper files for program participants, tracking student progress; developing and implementing retention strategies; identifying and recruiting possible program participants; maintaining a caseload of students; supervising Peer Tutors; and assisting with planning and facilitating student workshops, orientations, and special events. Qualifications: A minimum of a Bachelor of Arts Degree in science, mathematics, engineering, or technology, (master's degree preferred), or in a related field that addresses the program's need for professional tutors in these areas. 
 With such formal education, the Specialist will be able to assist students with applying basic skills necessary to pass these courses, as well as with techniques for passing the mandatory exams. Finally, the Specialist will use formal education to supplement Peer Tutors' knowledge of the subject area and support them in their tutoring activities. Additional Information: The Specialist also will be responsible for collaborating with department deans in science, industrial technology, and engineering to create course syllabi for the SSS STEM area. Determine instructor contacts for supplemental information Recruiting and interviewing undergraduate and graduate students for a total of three (3) Peer Tutor positions. Maintaining a pool of applicants for hire. Training Peer Tutors for work, student contact documentation, and Workday activities. Supervising and monitoring daily Peer Tutor activity with students, both online and in hard copy.
