Global Product Director, Interoperability

As a Global Product Director, Interoperability supporting Surgical Product Marketing & Management team, you will be trusted to serve as the subject matter expert (SME) on customer experience and interoperability across the Alcon Vision Suite (AVS) portfolio of connected surgical equipment. This role works cross functionally with Customers, Regions, Clinical and Technical Service and Digital Health to bridge the gap between end-user needs and R&D execution by defining and driving interoperability and connectivity requirements including Alcon's surgical planner strategy. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of clinical workflows, systems integration, and medical device communication standards to increase the AVS value proposition through a seamless, connected surgical environment. This will be out of our Fort Worth, TX location.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Serve as the internal SME for interoperability, connectivity, and user experience across the UNITY portfolio of surgical devices and systems.
  • Lead portfolio feature optimization and product evolution in alignment with global needs.
  • Lead the definition of interoperability requirements and use cases in collaboration with clinical stakeholders, Global Surgical Franchise, Americas & International marketing, and engineering teams.
  • Translate customer insights and workflow analysis into clear, actionable requirements for R&D and system architects.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D to ensure design and development align with interoperability goals, including data exchange, system integration, and communication protocols.
  • Evaluate and recommend standards and frameworks (e.g., HL7, DICOM, IEEE 11073) to support connectivity and interoperability.
  • Develop and maintain interoperability roadmaps and ensure alignment with product development cycles and release plans.
  • Represent the voice of the customer in cross-functional teams to promote intuitive, integrated, and scalable solutions.
  • Partner with regulatory and quality teams to support compliance with industry standards and interoperability requirements.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies in medical device interoperability and digital health ecosystems.
  • Partner with the Adi Digital Health team to establish Alcon's Planner Strategy across Alcon Diagnostics and OR-based systems
  • Partner with the Regional Commercial teams to deliver executional elements for the Planner strategy to the Markets and ensure successful adoption
  • Partner with R&D, Clinical Affairs, Regulatory, Americas & International Marketing, Sales, and Field Service teams to ensure cohesive product development and delivery.
  • Build strong relationships with global key opinion leaders (KOLs), societies, and institutions to shape the clinical and commercial landscape.
  • Build business cases to support investment of key features and enhancements to further drive value of interoperability between Alcon devices

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +18 yrs.; Assoc.+14 yrs.; M.S.+7 yrs.; PhD+6 yrs.)
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
  • 10 Years of Relevant Experience
  • 6 Years of Demonstrated Leadership

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPEIRNECE:

  • Surgical or Digital Health experience preferred
