POSITION SUMMARYThe Trading & Supply Analyst supports the Supply and Trading teams by assisting with the implementation of U.S. Energy's strategy and learning to analyze economic drivers and market risks. This role also focuses on analyzing internal data and market trends to build valuation models that guide trading decisions. The analyst will gain exposure to supply origination processes, basic P&L concepts, risk management, hedging strategies, and new market opportunities. Working closely with supply managers and traders at U.S. Energy, this entry-level position provides hands-on experience in energy markets and trading operations through cross-functional collaboration.

This position will be located in Houston, TX. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in developing a daily, weekly, and monthly pricing strategy in coordination with regional Supply and Trading teams.
  • Coordinate and communicate with Marketing and Operations in order to achieve expectations around supply needs.
  • Learn to identify and understand economic drivers around new market opportunities and its associated risks.
  • Learn how to originate supply in conjunction with Gas and Distillate traders and corresponding system entries for inventory system terminals and thruputs.
  • Learn how to manager financial and physical derivates positions (i.e. swaps, spreads, basis, etc.)
  • Help assess/execute daily petroleum purchases that provide physical product into the regional markets and trading positions that serve as hedges against market volatility

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Computer Science, Business or related field

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills

  • Interest in Energy markets and trading

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
