Sr. Manager, VAP Marketing

Position Summary:

The Senior Manager will report to the Director of Payer and Reimbursement Marketing Strategy on the VAP (Value, Access, and Policy) Market Access team. This individual will play an integral role on the VAP marketing team, supporting the design and implementation of payer and GPO marketing tactics that deliver on the Syfovre and Empaveli US market access strategy.

Job Location: Hybrid Based in our Waltham, MA offices, 2 days a week

Key Responsibilities Include:



  • Lead the development of brand-specific payer and GPO marketing resources, including product value propositions, core customer presentations, targeted messaging, and other proactive communications and tools to support brand launch/growth
  • Partner closely with cross-functional business partners and field teams (Brand Marketing, HEOR, Medical, Business Intelligence) to execute on payer and GPO marketing strategies
  • Manage agencies and other vendors in the development of marketing materials and tactics, tracking expiry of materials, initiating renewals of resources as needed, and managing agency budgets
  • Support both the payer field team and strategic accounts field team in their customer interactions
  • Engage directly with field-based teams on Field Input Team (FIT) calls, gathering customer insights/feedback and synthesizing ideas into relevant marketing resources to support customer interactions
  • Proactively identify any gaps in field educational resources and work closely with the marketing agency and field teams on solutions to bridge that gap
  • Partner with field leads in the development of QBR templates and other presentations for reporting on quarterly updates internally
  • Partner with Market Access teams, such as Pricing & Contracting, as needed to support key business activities
  • Identify challenges and opportunities within the payer and GPO segments by working across functions to develop effective solutions that support the overall Brand Plan
  • Work closely with the HEOR team to connect RWE & other evidence generation efforts with value messaging and resources for access customers
  • Ensure VAP marketing tactics are compliant and implemented in a timely fashion by working in partnership with the Medical, Legal, and Regulatory review team (Promotional Review Committee)
  • Roll out new tactics in partnership with the Training team and field-based teams or via POA/launch meetings
  • Support and help lead the development and implementation of the annual brand planning and functional planning processes
  • Support the Market Access strategy team with other projects as needed depending on business requirements


Education, Registration & Certification:



  • BA/BS Required, advanced degree preferred


Experience:



  • At least 5 years of Pharma/Biotech experience with at least 3 years in Payer or Market Access Marketing
  • Ophthalmology/retina, hematology/oncology, and nephrology experience preferred


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:



  • Must have the ability to act as a cross-functional leader to drive execution of access strategies by working closely with Field, Pricing & Contracting, HEOR, and Medical teams
  • Able to understand clinical data and work with Legal/Regulatory teams to create marketing materials
  • High level of integrity with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A strong team player that acts proactively across the US market access, US commercial brand, and global market access organizations
  • Strong understanding of US payer landscape including payer and channel dynamics, account management, reimbursement/distribution
  • Proven ability to lead and manage complex enterprise-wide strategic initiatives
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong executive written and verbal communication skills


Travel Requirements:



  • Up to 20% travel

Base salary for this role will consider multiple factors, including but not limited to, candidate qualifications, relevant expertise, specialized skills, and industry experience in complement-targeted therapies.

The targeted base salary range for this position is $145,800 - $218,700 per year. This range represents the base salary only and reflects Apellis' commitment to competitive compensation within the biopharmaceutical industry. The final salary offered may vary based on individual qualifications, business needs, and current market conditions.
