Job Information Tenure Track, Assistant Professor in Counselor Education Department of Counseling, Recreation, and School Psychology The Department of Counseling, Recreation, and School Psychology at Florida International University (FIU) invites applications for one nine-month, full-time, Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position in Counselor Education beginning August 2026. Expertise in School Counseling and/or Mental Health Counseling is desired. Minimum Qualifications: Earned doctorate ( Ph. D., Ed. D., Rh. D.) in Counselor Education or related degree; strong professional identity as a counselor; evidence of commitment to the profession of counseling (e.g., publication in referred counseling journals, appropriate certifications, leadership in counseling organizations, successful clinical experience); strong evidence of effective university teaching experience. The successful candidate must have an ability to use technology as a teaching tool and will have demonstrated the ability to teach and work meaningfully with persons from different backgrounds. Responsibilities: Conducting scholarly research resulting in publications, teaching, advising, supervising practicum and internship students; serving on departmental, college and university committees; providing service to the university and community; presenting scholarly work at professional counseling conferences; working closely with program, departmental and university partners to continually improve the program, involvement in accreditation-related activities beyond teaching, such as program assessment, curriculum alignment, or data management. Evidence of successful teaching in the eight CACREP content areas is preferred. The Counselor Education program within the Department of Counseling, Recreation, and School Psychology is CACREP-accredited and offers the Master of Science degree program with tracks in: Clinical Mental Health, Rehabilitation and School Counseling. The department also houses graduate programs in School Psychology, and Recreation and Sports Management. Opportunities for cross-disciplinary teaching, research, and service are encouraged.
