Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Supervisor Power Plant for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). The primary purpose of Supervisor, Power Plant position is to have direct supervision responsibility for Operating Engineers (Boiler Operators) and provides overlap on-site coverage (afternoons and weekends) of all power plants. The Supervisor plans and executes preventive, regular and emergency maintenance through the operators, outside contractors and equipment vendors. This person is required to maintain plant: safety, functionality, operational regulatory compliance and appearance. Supervises operations, prepares work schedules, tracks staff daily attendance and time off requests, interfaces with
RBHS payroll department and prepares and tracks requisitions to procure maintenance services and supplies.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Maintains standards for safety, reliability, efficiency and appearance for all Power Plants and directs the work of the Operating Engineers in all operations, maintenance and repair of the equipment.
- Provides training and leadership to the Operating Engineers for safety and equipment operation through encouragement of self-development and promotion of a culture of safety. The supervisor is responsible for evaluating operator adherence and compliance of all safety regulations.
- Schedules coverage for the Operating Engineers (Operators) and assigns plant operational areas work orders, tasks and duties to all Operators. Prepares weekly work schedules that must include scheduled overtime and time off requests. Reviews timesheets and attendance systems for accuracy and identifies and corrects errors through interfacing with the RBHS payroll dept.
- Diagnoses Power Plant equipment problems and coordinates startup/shutdown of operating equipment to ensure the safe installation and/or removal of equipment from operation without interruption of services provided to the university facilities

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in facility supervision or served in a lead, supervisory or managerial capacity.
