Position Summary

The Senior Manager of Innovation & AI acts as a strategic leader within White & Case's award-winning Innovation & AI team, shaping and executing the firm's vision to redefine legal technology leadership. This role oversees a high-performing team, providing direction, mentorship, and accountability to ensure the successful evaluation, implementation, and adoption of cutting-edge technology and AI solutions. By collaborating with cross-functional experts and the broader Practice Solutions team, the Senior Manager drives transformative initiatives that deliver measurable impact across practice groups and offices. Through the strategic orchestration and optimization of attorney workflows, this position ensures that team and departmental objectives are achieved with rigor and agility, reinforcing White & Case's commitment to operational excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Duties and Accountabilities1
  • Provide strategic consultation and guidance to lawyers, legal staff, and clients on leveraging technology and AI to optimize legal matters, including contract management, automation, and transaction management.
  • Oversee project execution to ensure quality outcomes and client satisfaction.
  • Lead the selection, implementation, and adoption of advanced technologies, with a particular focus on AI solutions.
  • Coordinate closely with business services teams, including technical staff and procurement, to ensure seamless integration.
  • Oversee technology testing and deliver actionable feedback to project teams and vendors.
  • Champion the introduction of new technologies to matter teams, identifying high-impact applications and driving adoption.
  • Take ownership of operational management for live, client-facing programs, ensuring the effective delivery of services in collaboration with Innovation & AI team members.
  • Analyze usage data and key metrics to inform recommendations for process improvements and technology enhancements.
  • Oversee the pipeline of technology and innovation opportunities, prioritizing initiatives that align with the firm's strategic objectives.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop direct reports within the Innovation & AI team, setting clear goals, providing regular feedback, conducting performance evaluations, and supporting professional growth to ensure a high-performing and engaged team
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required to support the team and firm's innovation agenda.
  • Ability to travel domestic and internationally
Required Skills
  • Bachelor's degree required. Juris Doctor, litigation practice or Paralegal preferred.
  • Project management and business analysis certification a plus, PMP or ACEDS.
  • 10+ years of experience working with in innovation management roles.
  • Deep expertise in leading and deploying legal technology solutions, including due diligence document review platforms, contract automation and management systems, transaction management tools, and advanced collaboration technologies.
  • Proven track record of implementing automation and AI-enabled tools (e.g., Contract Express, Office & Dragons, Harvey, Legora, vLex, Hebbia) and driving adoption across complex legal environments.
  • Strong understanding of legal practice workflows and operational processes, with the ability to identify opportunities for technology-driven improvement.
  • Advanced proficiency in standard business applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data analytics platforms (such as Tableau or Microsoft PowerBI).
  • Exceptional consultancy and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to lawyers and business leaders, and to bridge the gap between technology and legal teams.
  • Highly developed diplomacy and change management capabilities, adept at building consensus and fostering collaboration within cross-functional, global teams and among lawyers at all levels.
  • Demonstrated project management expertise, including the ability to lead and deliver projects within matrixed, non-hierarchical environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of emerging trends, best practices, and developments in AI-enabled and automation legal technologies, with a commitment to driving continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Strong independent working skills, with sound judgment on when to escalate issues or seek additional support.
  • Management and coaching of junior team members, with a focus on their career development and performance.
Location & Reporting
  • This role will be based in either our New York or London office.
  • This role reports to Global Director of Innovation & AI.
