Top Required Skills * Hub/Headend/CO Experience: Hands-on work in central office or hub environments, especially with service providers. * Core Networking: Solid understanding and experience with core network infrastructure. * Physical Layer Expertise: * Fiber testing * Rack and stack of network equipment * Installation of network devices * Optical Networking Equipment: Familiarity with: * Ciena (especially 6500 series) * Adtran * Lucent * Cisco * Juniper * Basic Configuration Skills: * Ability to input pre-written configurations into network devices * Willingness and ability to learn configuration processes Nice-to-Have Skills * DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) * Advanced configuration experience * Deep knowledge of optical packet networking * Additional fiber testing techniques Job Responsibilities * Support ongoing and upcoming projects including: * Hub migrations * New device installations * Network seeding initiatives * Ensure network integrity during migrations-no service interruptions * Perform Layer 1 tasks: * Fiber testing * Physical installation of devices * Work on-site (primarily NYC/NJ), typically one site per week * Travel flexibility preferred (vehicle access ideal) Work Environment * Work in hub environments alongside other technicians or vendors * Exposure to cutting-edge networking technologies * Direct impact on core network capacity and customer service quality * Opportunity to contribute to high-visibility infrastructure upgrades Why This Role Is Open * To address a backlog of critical tasks * To support new network expansion projects * To strengthen and modernize the core network infrastructure Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Bethpage, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
