Under general supervision of the Associate Dean and/or Dean, the Student Services Specialist (SSS) collaborates with team members in recruitment, enrollment, testing, and retention. This SSS processes a high volume of Community Education student admissions applications at all campuses, Community-based Organization (CBOs), Community Reintegration Center (CRC), and other correctional settings.
Note: This is a grant-funded position. Funding for this position is contingent upon the terms of the grant. This position is funded through 6/30/26.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

- Advises current and prospective students with academic decisions; career development; assesses provides support service options to address personal, family and social issues.
- Advises students with class selection; assesses test scores; reviews transcript and program plans; guides student registration in alignment with course availability; provides information on entry options, curriculum, academic and performance preparation.
- Provides recruitment, admissions, testing, and advising services at the Community Reintegration Center, Day Reporting Center, and other such justice involved students across the MATC district.
- Explains career sheets and/or program information to applicants to assure understanding of program requirements and career pathway options at MATC.
- Advises students about program course availability, program changes and availability.
- Ensures delivery of excellent customer service, including face-to-face, telephone, electronic, and print transactions.
- Identifies students in need of career planning, special needs, and counseling; refers applicants to appropriate MATC support services and/or community-based organizations/agencies.
- Provides information about services available to students at MATC; collaborates with admissions, counselors and other professional personnel to monitor referrals and progress.
- Provides individual and workshop format information on interviewing and job searching.
- Acts as liaison with community-based organizations/agencies to recruit disadvantaged and minority students.
- Collaborates with division leaders to ensure delivery of academic advising and career services to current students and graduates.
- Collaborates with new student orientations at MATC; represents MATC at CRC, Day Reporting Center (DRC) functions; provides tours of MATC campuses to prospective students returning to their communities from incarceration.
- Assists in devising and developing student services procedures; generates and maintains student services reports.
- Represents MATC at advisory boards, public, private, and business committees in the community.
- Participates in workshops; in-service trainings; student service's instructional and college steering or success committees; advisory boards; sub-committees or educational activities as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as required for the efficient operations of the division.

Qualifications

Candidate must be able to pass the Community Reintegration Center( CRC) background check if offered a position.
Minimum Requirements:
Education/Experience: Associate degree in Education, Behavioral Sciences, Business, or Marketing with at least three (3) years of related experience* Preferred Experience: Bachelor's degree or higher n Education, Behavioral Sciences, Business, or Marketing with at least one (1) year of related experience* *Related experience includes: Occupational experience in the area of student recruitment or marketing. Must have experience with student admissions and enrollment services. Preferred License/Certification: CPR/First Aid Certification. COMPETENCIES

- Knowledge of general entry admissions and enrollment procedures.

Start Date: This position supports the Community Education Division and is available to start immediately. Note: This is an AEFLA grant-funded position. Funding for this position is contingent upon the terms of the grant. This position is funded through 6/30/26.
Salary:
Salary is listed to the midpoint of the salary range and are determined by years of experience credit and internal salary equity. *Note; due to the limited term conditions, this will NOT be a benefit eligible position if the start date falls after 1/5/26. If the grant is renewed for FY 25/26, it would then become full-time benefit eligible beginning August of 2026.
Hours: This is a full-time paraprofessional position which works 38.75 hours weekly, 100% in-person position. Hours vary based on departmental needs. Location: Multi-campus (Walker's Square/Oak Creek), Community Reintegration Center, Day Reporting Center, and Community Based Organizations. Employees will conduct all work hours in the State of Wisconsin, performing work outside the state is strictly prohibited.
