From your PASSION to ours

Central Valley Cheese, Inc., part of the Lactalis family of companies, is currently hiring a Maintenance Technician based in Turlock, CA. This position is responsible for providing maintenance to all plant processing and equipment, plant utilities, and building and grounds, which include boilers, refrigeration, coolers, HVAC, air compressors, fire suppression system, electrical/pneumatic controls and switch gear, water system and sewer, vehicles, and forklifts.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

Responsibilities (not all inclusive)

  • Perform daily preventative maintenance of equipment and systems.
  • Repair of mechanical and building equipment in timely manner to limit production loss.
  • Troubleshoot and repair of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment.
  • Install equipment per layout drawings.
  • Prepare parts list for ordering as required.
  • Help plant production personnel troubleshoot production problems.

Technical Competencies

  • Knowledge and application of Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Ability to pay strong attention to detail and multitask effectively.
  • Skills in and knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to weld stainless and make food grade repairs.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Good critical thinking skills, ability to follow and use root cause analysis.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, procedures, and related documents (as needed).

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One or more years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education experience.

Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to pay strong attention to detail multi-task effectively.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good to excellent spelling, grammar, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent telephone and oral communication skills.
  • Requires the ability to communicate and document work.
  • Track and maintain information on a database.
  • Be able to move up and down stairs or ladders.
  • Occasionally move up to 80 lbs.
  • Able and willing to work at heights of eighty feet or more.
  • Able and willing to work in confined spaces.
  • Able and willing to work on ladders.
  • Able and willing to work in cold or hot environments.
  • Be able to work at floor level, waist level, shoulder level, and above both close and away from body.
  • Be able to work the shift assigned and fill in other shifts as needed.
  • Be able to work weekends and off shifts as needed.
  • Be able to work with moving mechanical parts.
