GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Nurse Manager or Administration, assumes accountability for a clinic/department with multiple staff members (i.e., RNs, MAs, LPNs, etc.). Provides first line management responsibilities including clinical leadership and supervisory support to an assigned clinic/department. Performs duties of a Registered Nurse in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide, delegate, supervise and document care and teaching of patients and families. Works in partnership with the Nurse Manager, the health care team and medical group leaders to ensure a quality practice setting that supports professional nursing practice and quality patient care. Demonstrates clinical competence. Participates in planning and budget development.

Internists (doctors of internal medicine) are trained to treat many medical problems adults face. From minor illnesses to chronic diseases, they get to know your personal medical history and evaluate how you respond to treatments.

Internists evaluate injuries and make sure you get important health screenings when necessary. They encourage lifestyle changes needed to preserve your health. Internists also manage the care of patients who have several medical problems at the same time.

If and when your internist refers you to a specialist such as a cardiologist, endocrinologist or surgeon, he or she will oversee and coordinate your care -- all with your well-being in mind.

Henry Ford Medical Center - Taylor has adult and pediatric primary care providers, as well as specialists who practice dermatology, nephrology, neurology, pulmonary, rheumatology and sleep disorders. There also is a comprehensive care clinic for patients with multiple, complex conditions who require extra time with the doctor and more follow up. Also offered at this site are laboratory, pharmacy and radiology services.

Currently Managing 9 direct reports --7 MA's and 2 RN's

70% of work is administrative and 30% is working as a RN with patients

Location: 24555 Haig Street, Taylor, MI 48180

Hours: Full Time Position (Monday through Friday) - 1 Saturday/Month On- Call (by phone only)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related field required. Successful completion of Henry Ford Ambulatory orientation. Maintains and demonstrates current clinical knowledge in area of specialty.
  • Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans. Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and medical group personnel. Preferred experience in the specialty.
  • Two to three (2-3) years of nursing experience in a clinical environment.
  • Leadership experience preferred.
  • Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills. Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

  • Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current BLS or ACLS per Henry Ford Health policy.
  • Certification will be required when it is a regulatory requirement in the State of Michigan or a documented community standard, i.e., Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN).
