Position Summary
The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely operating forklifts to load and unload materials from trucks, move bulk materials throughout the facility, and support shipping and material handling operations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining workflow efficiency and ensuring materials are properly prepared for transport.
Essential Job Functions
  • Operate a forklift to load, unload, and transport materials throughout the facility (approximately 90% of the role)
  • Move bulk materials within the building in a safe and efficient manner
  • Wrap skids and prepare materials for shipping (approximately 10% of the role)
  • Ensure materials are properly staged and handled to support production and shipping needs
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies at all times
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Seated Forklift Operation:
    • Sitting: >90% of the time
    • Standing/Walking: <10% of the time
  • Standing Forklift Operation:
    • Standing/Walking: >90% of the time
    • Sitting: <10% of the time
  • Peripheral vision and depth perception sufficient to safely operate a forklift
Qualifications & Skills
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written instructions
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions accurately
  • Ability to complete basic paperwork and documentation
  • Basic math skills, including use of a calculator
  • Strong attention to safety and detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Work Environment
  • Typical noise levels exceeding 70 dB
  • Exposure to chemical and machine hazards
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions
  • Non-climate-controlled indoor environment
  • GMP facility requirements apply (jewelry and piercings must be removed)
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including:
    • Tyvek overalls
    • Foot protection
    • Eye and face protection
    • Hand protection
