Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Associate.

Responsible for conducting independent basic science experimentation based on research conducted in the assigned laboratory under the mentorship of a senior scientist. Individual is expected to seek to build a portfolio of research accomplishments in preparation for acquiring a higher degree in biomedical research or medicine.

Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for biospecimens collection, processing, storage, and distribution for clinical trials, biobanks and research studies. Responsible for answering queries related to samples processing and distribution. Responsible for specimens inventory and QC prior distribution. Responsible for kits set up and inventory for clinical trials, bio-banks and research studies. Responsible for specimens data entry in database (LabVantage/FileMaker Pro). Responsible for filling out, scanning and storing in the server the requisition forms for sample shipments. Responsible for reagents and lab supplies inventory. Responsible for weekly meeting minutes. Maintains a clean, orderly work area within the laboratory. Adhere to department policies and procedures; must follow HIPPA and CAP Accreditation rules. Perform other duties as assigned. Communications/Relationships with others Provides guidance, cooperates, communicates and relates well to all levels of NYULH staff. Listens carefully to others in order to respond appropriately, answer questions or obtain needed information. Communicates ideas, problems, suggestions, and messages in a timely and effective manner. Maintains confidentiality of all research information. Functions efficiently in a fast-paced, multitasking environment. Possesses excellent interpersonal and communicative skills. Recognizes core laboratory functions Judgment/Decision-Making Is able to recognize problems as they occur; and through the application of appropriate policy/procedure, determine and/or recommends the appropriate solution. Seeks guidance as necessary for the performance of duties asks appropriate questions when in doubt and utilizes reference sources/materials to endure accuracy. Advises appropriate personnel of situations/problems requiring intervention or followup attention.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a College graduate with a B.S. or B.A. in Biomedical or Physical Sciences. A minimum commitment of two years is required and placement in position may not exceed three years.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $47,033.89 - $63,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
