Job Description Johnson County Wastewater (JCW) is responsible for the safe collection, transportation and treatment of wastewater generated by our community. Our work ensures that our lakes, rivers, and streams remain free from disease-causing pathogens and pollutants that are harmful to public health and the environment. Johnson County Wastewater is looking for qualified candidates to fill the position of Collections Assistant Superintendent. The posting will remain open until filled. Job duties include:

Job Requirements Minimum Job Requirements: High school diploma and ten years of experience in mechanical, maintenance, or relevant industrial or field-based work required. Preference given to experience in a water or wastewater environment.
Two years of experience leading, directing, coordinating, or supervising the work of others is required.
One year of experience in the operations and maintenance of a wastewater treatment or collection system, and/or water distribution or treatment is required.
Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Must be able to pass background checks.
Preferred Job Requirements:
Associates degree in Environmental Sciences, Project or Construction Management or other relevant area of study.
Class IV KDHE operator or KWEA collections license for one Assistant Superintendent, PACP - Pipeline Assessment Certification Program MACP - Manhole Assessment Certification Program, LACP - Lateral Assessment Certification Program is preferred.
Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions (Required): Excessive standing and/or walking: 67-100% Exposure to extreme temperatures. Exposure to fumes and/or chemicals. Exposure to heights. Exposure to loud noises. Lifting: 50 lbs. without assistance (up to 33%) and 50-100 lbs. with assistance (up to 33%) Exposure to raw sewage. On call/stand-by work required. Safety sensitive job. Shift work may be required depending on position, including 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift schedule. Weather essential job. Department and county essential. All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situation. Uniform required. Push/pull and grip at various heights horizontal/vertical 40 - 75 lbs.
