Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Data Associate, Per Diem (20 hours).

The Research Data Associate plays a vital role in supporting clinical trials, studies, and general research activities under direct supervision. This position works closely with the Infectious Diseases Division Program Director, the Vaccine Center Medical Director, center faculty, and staffsuch as managers, research nursing teams, regulatory personnel, and other NYU Langone Health departments as required. Interactions may also involve patients, their families, and community partners.

The role demands strong communication and organizational skills, familiarity with medical research processes, and a commitment to patient care and the communities served. Based at the NYULH Manhattan Vaccine Center, the Research Data Associate will collaborate with a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team from NYU Langone Health and NYU Grossman School of Medicine. This team focuses on advancing clinical research to develop new treatments for infectious diseases and deepen the understanding of immunity. Their expanding research portfolio bridges the clinic and laboratory, encompassing vaccine clinical trials and translational studies of immune responses to pathogens and vaccines.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist coordinators with daily participant-related tasks.
  • Recruit and screen potential patients/subjects for study eligibility.
  • Schedule and confirm participant visits.
  • Maintain regular contact with patients; send visit reminders and encourage compliance with research protocols.
  • Interact with patients, subjects, and their families in a courteous, professional, and cooperative manner.
  • Ensure all communication with participants is effective and respectful.
  • Collaborate with various personnel involved in different aspects of the study.
  • Ensure all protocol compliance, including adherence to eligibility criteria, follow-up procedures, and documentation standards.
  • Assist with regulatory procedures required by the NYU Institutional Review Board (IRB) and external IRBs to maintain approvals for human subjects research.
  • Utilize established quantitative and qualitative methodologies to collect research data from patients, partners, staff, and/or trainees.
  • Gather, compile, and input clinical and nonclinical data into databases or case report forms.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of research studies and associated procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with study protocols and address any issues that arise.

Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify you must have a Associate's degree plus one year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer literate with good interpersonal, writing and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree, preferably in science, public health, health education, or a related field
Prior experience in healthcare or research settings
Prior patient education experience
Knowledge of research methodologies, protocols, and regulatory requirements
Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate and confidential patient records
Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and other relevant software applications (eg, REDCap, Qualtrics), including qualitative research tools (eg, Dedoose, Atlas.ti)
Familiarity with medical terminology and the ability to comprehend scientific literature
Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care, with a commitment to ensuring patient safety and well-being
Proficiency in another language is a plus

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $29.56 - $29.70 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
