Full Time/Day Shift

Required qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare related field. Or Education and applicable supervisory and operational experience.
  • 3 years Progressive laboratory experience in a high-volume facility.
  • Laboratory experience including familiarity of workflow and operational processes between technical and non-technical laboratory functions


Preferred qualifications:



  • Pathology experience.

For direct patient care roles: Performs and maintains currency of essential competencies as required by specific area of hire and populations served.



  • Perform all activities necessary to achieve the operational and financial goals for the support department as defined in the budget.
  • Manages the supervision and oversight for Pathology Support functions inclusive of report generation services (transcription), material distribution, and pathology support specialists.
  • Ensure that the departments meet or exceeds expectations in order to deliver timely, accurate laboratory results to caregivers.
  • Maintains established performance and production standards; proposes continual process improvement for efficiency and quality.
  • Ensure that the support department meets all requirements related to CLIA, OSHA, CAP, the Laboratory Quality Plan and the Compliance Program.
  • Constantly evaluate jobs and staffing in order to improve productivity and reduce labor expense.
  • Document and report on remediation efforts, issues and initiatives in monthly variance reports issued to the Operations Manager.
  • Assures that all remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
  • Notifies the CLIA Medical Director, Operations Manager and/or lab Director of system failures and corrective action taken.
  • Identify and eliminate service failures. Monitor all solutions for effectiveness.
  • Evaluates, designs and recommends for implementation new procedures. Establishes work procedures for newly implemented methods.
  • Develop training and ensure all department staff is completely trained through use of department specific training checklists.
  • Establishes productivity standards for each position and monitor staff. Counsels for improvement where appropriate. Constantly evaluate jobs and staffing in order to improve productivity and reduce labor expense.
  • Evaluate all direct reports for acceptable performance including competency assessment consistent with goals of the organization and job description criteria.
  • Hold regular staff and management meetings to ensure appropriate communications are maintained with employees of the department.
  • Initiate new procedures as needed.
  • Maintain department at inspection readiness.
  • Regularly monitors turnaround times, call volumes and abandonment rate, and customer satisfaction.
  • Attends regular meetings to offer expertise, and solicit feedback concerning departmental activities, processes, and procedures.
  • Maintains metrics associated with productivity, and quality initiatives.
  • Thorough understanding of LIS functions related to daily operations and customer service management.
  • Responsible for laboratory safety as appropriate for team environments and works with Regional Safety Coordinator as needed.
  • Acts as final point of contact on procedural and policy questions. Keeps team informed of new processes and general updates.

The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors.
