Overview

We are seeking a Registered Nurse Preceptor to mentor and train new nurses and nursing students. The RN Preceptor plays a crucial role in the preparation and development of new nursing staff, as well as in enhancing the skills of existing staff.

Shift's Available: Days

Employment Type: Full Time

Hours: 8hr - 8:30am to 4:00pm

Location: Riverview Regional Medical Center, Gadsden, AL

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Provides guidance and consultation when needed, regarding effective patient care and scope of practice.
  • Creates formal and informal learning opportunities for peers regarding practice issues, technology and/or current research, identifies and intervenes when staff weaknesses are identified.
  • Responsible for the care given to his/her assigned patients.
  • Communicates with the physician, nurse director, and coworkers about changes in the patient's clinical condition including cardiac monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and abnormal results and symptomatology.
  • Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality. Works collaboratively with patients, patients' family, significant other(s) and hospital staff to achieve goals and outcomes.


Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

  • Current and valid state Registered Nurse license.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Completion of preceptor class.

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:

  • Previous acute care hospital experience preferred.
  • Ventilator Management experience preferred.
  • Medical-Surgical Nurse-Board Certified (RN-BC) or similar certification; preferred.
  • Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current, preferred.
  • Previous acute care hospital experience preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
