Duties, Responsibilities & Other

Job Summary: TThe Senior Designer II (Sr DTII) position is the sixth level in the Designer career track. This career track is tasked with design quality control, designer development and increasing efficiencies with current and new investor owned utilities, cooperatives and municipalities. Design scope is including, but not limited to: Overhead and underground circuits and asset upgrades, New Business electric and gas residential, commercial and industrial customer design, Telecommunication (WAN, joint use, Aldenone), lighting, and any programmatic work the client requests. This track is also responsible for field data collection and assists with storm restoration when requested. This role involves managing assigned design projects of varying complexity, permit documentation and providing support to others for assigned projects with independence. The Sr DTII will directly communicate with clients to request additional work or project opportunities in addition to tracking progress of their projects

This position primarily involves working in an office environment. There is an expectation of significant field work, which may include exposure to inclement weather conditions such as extreme heat/cold, high humidity, rain, snow and icy conditions.

Your key responsibilities include:

    Demonstrating a high-level of expertise in performing and instructing field data collection and project-specific inspection techniques.
  • Producing high-quality computer-aided design drawings and material lists for assigned projects.
  • Providing guidance and training to peers and designers as assigned by supervision.
  • Ensuring all necessary communications are documented on projects designed as required by training.
  • Maintaining a thorough and complete understanding of the permitting process.
  • Communicating with clients to request additional work or project opportunities to maintain ongoing engagement and service continuity.

This role will work without consistent guidance.



Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, and fourteen years relevant work experience, or an Associate's Degree and twelve years of work experience.
  • Valid driver's license required for field-oriented roles.
  • Pre-employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment. Motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
