We are hiring a: Senior Maintenance Mechanic
[St. Louis, MO] (Onsite)
Position Summary
The senior maintenance mechanic is responsible for reliable operation of manufacturing equipment and facilities through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. This role requires strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, and technical expertise to maintain high equipment time.
Equipment Operation & Preventive Maintenance
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks on manufacturing equipment according to schedule to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
- Responds promptly to emergency maintenance requests and provides effective solutions to minimize production downtime. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to identify and resolve issues promptly.
- Performs diagnostics and problem solving for PLC and CNC component related issues and troubleshoot failures to ensure systems are operating as expected.
- Conducts regular inspections of machines and equipment to detect abnormalities, wear and tear, or potential failures, and takes corrective actions as needed.
- Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and spare parts inventory.
- Oversees and participates in the installation, modification, and commissioning of new equipment.
- Ensures compliance with safety regulations and company policies in all maintenance activities, including procedures related to equipment maintenance.
- Continuously identifies opportunities for process improvement to enhance equipment performance and reliability.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and technical knowledge of industrial machinery.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for documenting maintenance activities and tracking equipment performance.
- Flexibility to work non-standard hours and respond to emergency maintenance situations as needed.
- Performs complex assembly of mechanical equipment including bearing clearances and tight tolerance fits.
- Reads and updates mechanical and electrical schematics as required.
- Diagnoses and repairs automated production equipment and components, including robotics.
- Repairs and installs complex pipes and plumbing that carry gas, water, air or misc. hydraulic oils.
Facilities, Utilities & Environmental Support
- Run utilities such as electric, air, nitrogen, argon, and exhaust for equipment moves or new projects.
- Check temperature and humidity using Compass.
- Check and maintain auto drains on the compressed air system.
- Monitor humidity levels on environmental chambers and adjust as needed.
Fabrication & Infrastructure Support
- Fabricate complex production equipment and fixtures and identify opportunities for improvement in reliability and uptime.
- Operate forklifts, ladders, platform lifts, and related equipment.
- Move stock or equipment to and from the shipping area.
Administrative & System Use
- Use of Microsoft Office software and CMMS systems
- Maintain equipment files for all equipment.
Safety, Compliance & Vendor Coordination
- Follow lockout procedures on equipment.
- Work with HSE to ensure safe practices and proper disposal of chemicals and materials.
- Coordinate with vendors and tradespeople; ensure they are badged, signed in, and wearing proper PPE.
General Operational Support
- Execute written and verbal requests from engineering staff.
