Hours: 8:00am to 4:30pm

Pay Range: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour

Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Pathologists and the Core Lab Supervisor, oversees all functions to maintain that Point of Care Testing (POCT) within the Hospital is performed according to TJC, CAP and DPH regulations. Performs a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic laboratory tests on blood, body fluid, and specimens as prescribed by physicians or healthcare providers in the technical area.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree in a chemical biological, clinical or medical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution. Must meet the CLIA Technical Consultant requirements.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical laboratory experience required for candidates with a Bachelor's degree, or a minimum of four (4) years of clinical laboratory experience required for candidates with an Associate's degree.
  • Certification
    • ASCP, AMT, or NCA certification required. Eligible candidates will be accepted and expected to sit and pass certification exam within 6 months of employment.
  • Skills
    • Must have the ability to act based on review of policies, protocols, procedures, and methodologies. Requires knowledge of basic laboratory methods and analytical principles in the department.
    • Working knowledge of automated and manual laboratory equipment.
    • Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization may exist.
    • Good knowledge of quality control principles.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • Must be able to reasonably make appropriate judgments in communications and actions with patients, physicians, outside agencies, vendors and fellow staff members.
    • Must be computer proficient.
    • Ability to maintain confidential information is required.
    • Must have the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
    • Excellent customer service skills.
