Compensation: $32.50 - $40.62 per hour (Dependent on Experience)

Tessera is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Workforce Development Specialist to join our manufacturing team in Auburn, Washington. As the Manufacturing Workforce Development (WFD) Specialist, you'll design, develop, deliver and measure comprehensive training programs across our manufacturing organization. The ideal candidate is an expert in technical curriculum development, focused on fostering a culture of continuous learning and upward mobility for all employees. This role will standardize training processes, ensure compliance with quality systems and manage our onboarding and apprenticeship.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Work with individuals with disabilities to discover their interests and prepare them for upward movement within the manufacturing sector.

  • Support curriculum development that accommodates all learning styles and abilities

  • Create technical and non-technical curriculum, including training modules for both classroom and hands-on application and generate checklists to monitor training progress.

  • Design and deliver soft skills training (e.g., communication, teamwork) to support professional development.

  • Develop and create software training for internal systems and tools used in manufacturing employing various media such video, PowerPoint, written and hands-on learning materials.

  • Identify, vet, and integrate external training resources (such as videos and courses) to supplement internal materials.

  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from various departments and external SMEs to ensure all curriculum is accurate, relevant, and comprehensive.

  • Create robust assessments (knowledge tests and skills demonstrations) to validate training effectiveness and employee competency.

  • Develop and implement On-the-Job Training (OJT) processes to ensure consistency in skill transfer across all shifts and departments.

  • Standardize the training matrix by aligning required training with job description levels (1, 2, 3) throughout the manufacturing organization.

  • Create and maintain a skills matrix to track employee competence and skill demands for departments within the manufacturing organization

  • At the direction of the Quality Systems Manager, lead required Quality Systems training, including key topics like AS9100 (Quality Management System), FOD (Foreign Object Debris), QMS (Quality Management System), and ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations).

  • Manage and schedule all reoccurring compliance training to maintain adherence to quality and safety standards.

  • Create and facilitate all necessary Safety Training and procedures regarding PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) usage.

  • Facilitate a structured New Hire Orientation (NHO) that thoroughly covers core compliance and company standards (AS9100, FOD, QMS, ITAR, Safety, AAM).

  • Oversee and champion the future Apprenticeship program in partnership with external workforce development organizations like AJAC.

  • Review, verify and update Workday training records for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with training matrices and competency requirements.

  • Assist and support all departments with both internal and external audits as needed.

  • Take the lead role in organizing and representing the company at external Workforce Development (WFD) events.

  • Maintain confidentiality of information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and program rules.

  • Perform duties in compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, rules, regulations and guidelines governing equal employment opportunity and nondiscrimination in the workplace

  • Operate Tessera provided vehicles or personal vehicle for job duties

  • As needed, attend continuing education trainings to stay current with trends in disability topics and facilities maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of 1 year teaching or mentoring experience (formal or informal).

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years experience manufacturing or curriculum development

  • Prior Aerospace manufacturing experience is preferred.

  • Must have strong communication skills - verbal, written and public speaking.

  • Must have a collaborative mindset, positive attitude, and work well with a diverse population.

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products.

  • Must be flexible and able to prioritize duties with frequent interruptions.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Must be able to travel, as needed, to events within the local community.

Physical Requirements:

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.

  • Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.

  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.

  • A valid state driver's license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera's insurance.
