In this role, you work within the estimating department to develop an internal estimate by performing detailed take-offs to calculate the amount of materials, labor, and equipment for the project.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Participates in the Estimate Plan meeting and aids the preconstruction team as assigned.
  • Reviews blueprints, specifications, and other documents to understand the scope of work.
  • Ensure that the estimating team has the necessary information to develop the estimate. If information is lacking, then it is responsible for communicating that need to the estimate lead.
  • Collaborate with the client bid form and coordinate with marketing for inclusion in the formal proposal.
  • Reviews RFP requirements to help determine compliance. Responsible for communicating with the estimated lead when deviations exist.
  • Ensures estimates comply with industry standards, NEC, and local regulations, along with job-specific standards.
  • Manages, or participates in the development of the subcontractor/vendor bid list.
  • Organizes and leads pre-bid meetings, if required.
  • Receives quotes and conducts subcontractor and vendor analysis. Organizes and leads scope review meetings for scopes of work estimated by the Estimator. Make a recommendation for selection.
  • Submits project budget to project management team with thorough estimate, scope, and specifications review.
  • Maintain preferred subcontractor, bid forms and bid packages, history and estimating databases.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

To thrive in this role, you'll need:

  • High school diploma or GED is required. A minimum of 5 years of industrial electrical experience is required.
  • Good organizational and verbal communication skills; attention to detail.
  • Collaborate with others to accomplish organizational goals, identify and resolve problems.
  • Retrieving information from technical sources.
  • Knowledge of construction, materials systems, market conditions, and trade practices.
  • Knowledge of estimating software (preference for Beck Destini, Accubid, Bluebeam, InSite, etc.)
  • Excellent computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite programs
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal clients, external clients, and subcontractors.

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment, and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
