Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE II)

Location: Arden Hills, MN (Hybrid)

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Pay Rate: Up to $51.00 per hour

Job Type: Contract / Professional Role

Position Overview

The Supplier Quality Engineer plays a critical role in improving supplier performance and ensuring externally sourced components consistently meet quality, regulatory, and patient safety requirements. This role partners closely with suppliers and cross-functional internal teams to resolve component quality issues, drive corrective actions, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain.

This is a great opportunity for a mid-level Quality Engineer with experience in regulated manufacturing environments, particularly medical devices.

Key Responsibilities



  • Drive supplier quality improvement initiatives, including corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
  • Lead and support reactive and proactive supplier investigations and projects
  • Partner cross-functionally with Supplier Engineering, Manufacturing, Test Operations, R&D, Design Assurance, and Global Sourcing
  • Analyze quality data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities
  • Plan, organize, and manage non-routine quality projects and supplier improvement activities
  • Independently develop approaches to problem-solving within established policies and procedures
  • Support and influence supplier manufacturing operations to improve capability and consistency
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Participate in or lead quality-related projects and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure full compliance with Quality Management Systems (QMS), regulatory requirements, and internal quality policies
  • Promote a strong culture of patient safety, product quality, and regulatory compliance



Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Materials, Chemical, Electrical, or similar)
  • 2-4 years of experience in quality engineering, supplier quality, or manufacturing quality
  • Experience working within Quality Management Systems (QMS)
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and risk management in a regulated industry


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience with or Lead Auditor certification to:

    • ISO 13485
    • ISO 9001
    • IATF / TS 16949


  • Experience using quality problem-solving tools (CAPA, root cause analysis, corrective actions)
  • Strong ability to communicate cross-functionally with suppliers, engineers, and leadership
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Experience reviewing or authoring technical and quality documentation
