Job Description
The Associate Director, Government Pricing Operations is a new role within Vertex's U.S. Market Access- Access Operations and Analytics team. This individual will have a key leadership responsibility acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Model N Flex system primarily in support of Government Pricing (GP) calculations and integration activities. The role will work cross-functionally to manage daily operational and launch activities, ensuring successful set-up and integration of information into Model N. This role is integral to the company's readiness for product launches across multiple therapeutic areas and the evolving complexity of pricing regulations, and contract and distribution strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Government Pricing Operations
- Serves as the primary expert on the Government Pricing team for Model N systems and data integrations.
- Utilizes in-depth knowledge of the Model N application to optimize system configurations, test changes, and ensure accurate pricing calculations.
- Understands required data sources for GP calculations and is experienced in validation and trouble-shooting data issues from multiple sources/systems.
- Supports the management of any issue resolution timely. Will be the lead business partner between GP and Data Technology Engineering team for issue ticketing, solutioning and change management activities.
- Knowledgeable on bundling, discount reallocation, Bonafide services fees, and price protection impacts.
- Works collaboratively with internal teams like Contracting Strategy, Trade Operations, Rebate/Chargeback Operations and Data Technology Engineering to ensure pricing and contracting inputs are accurate and reflect current agreements.
- Works with cross-functional teams like Accounting, Trade Operations and Vertex 3PLs to ensure Order-to-Cash integration into Government Pricing datasets are appropriately integrated, tested, and validated for management of transactional data and completeness.
- Performs trend analytics, validates source data, and prepares reports for management on topics like price change or contract proposal impacts.
- Works collaboratively with a team to interpret and implement updates to CMS guidance, federal regulations, and industry standards into systems and calculations, ensuring ongoing compliance.
- Develops, implements, and maintains policies, methodologies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for government pricing system operations and integrations.
- Maintains controls and documentation to support SOX compliance and audit readiness.
- Provides direct operational support, guidance, and mentorship to GP teams through frequent meetings and team trainings.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partners with internal stakeholders (e.g., Accounting, Trade Operations, Rebates and Chargebacks Operations, and Data & Technology Engineering) to integrate data and ensure consistent pricing operations.
- Supports commercialization and launch readiness for new products by aligning pricing systems and reporting frameworks.
- Collaborate with DTE implementation teams to design, test, and deploy IT solutions supporting pricing calculations and reporting.
Process Improvement & Strategic Planning
- Enhance policies, SOPs, systems mapping and control frameworks to ensure efficient and compliant pricing operations.
- Translates complex government pricing calculation requirements into configurations for GP system implementations and upgrades.
- Recommend and drive process improvements, system enhancements, and automation to optimize pricing operations.
- Participate in special projects, audits, and assessments as a key representative of our Government Pricing systems and tools.
- May lead strategic initiatives and projects as needed for launch or changes in regulatory landscape.
Qualifications:
- Deep understanding of Model N Flex solutions.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field required; MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 8-years of direct experience in government price calculations, or government pricing systems and integrations.
- Experience with rare disease therapy launches and commercialization is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of government programs including Medicaid, PHS/340B, FSS, and Medicare.
- Advanced analytical, problem-solving, project management and Excel skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence without authority.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with internal and external auditors and managing SOX-related processes.

- This role may require occasional travel for conferences, training, or team meetings.
- Participation in relevant industry seminars and continued education is expected to stay up to date on compliance requirements and best practices.
Pay Range: $168,000 - $252,000

This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements.
