Presbyterian Kaseman is seeking a skilled Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) who provides compassionate, age appropriate care to children and adolescents experiencing acute or chronic behavioral, emotional, or psychiatric conditions. The RN promotes a safe, therapeutic environment, collaborates with an interdisciplinary team, and supports patients and families through crisis stabilization, treatment planning, and recovery.

Responsibilities:

The Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) responsibilities include:

  • Assess the physical, emotional, and behavioral health status of pediatric and adolescent patients.

  • Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans based on assessed needs and treatment goals.

  • Administer medications safely, including psychotropic medications, and monitor for therapeutic effects and adverse reactions.

  • Provide crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and traumainformed care.

  • Facilitate therapeutic groups, skills training, and psychoeducation sessions.

  • Observe and document patient behavior, symptoms, progress, and responses to treatment.

  • Maintain a safe and structured environment using approved behavior management strategies.

  • Work closely with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and direct care staff to support treatment plans.

  • Maintain clear, compassionate communication with patients' families or guardians.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case reviews, and care conferences.

  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and hospital regulations, including HIPAA and patient rights standards.

  • Address safety concerns immediately and participate in unit safety planning.

  • Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and coping skills.

  • Provide emotional support and advocate for patient needs.

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing

  • State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License

  • BLS certification REQUIRED at time of hire

  • Behavioral Health Experience preferred
