DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

Assist in hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplining inventory control staff.

Plan, organize, and implement inventory operations and procedures. Supervise physical inventory count. Provide proper accounting for year-end-adjustment to the general ledger.

Review daily inventory activity. Maintain accurate inventory master files, manufacturer and catalog numbers, minimums, and material descriptions. Remain current on new and obsolete materials. Maintain adequate levels of inventory stock. Review receiving records. Maintain receiving records on file until the invoice is received. Reconcile invoices with the correct receiving record and review monthly capital budget reports.

Research vendor, pricing, and manufacturer information. Input all required data to initiate requisitions and purchase orders. Prepare re-order reports with quantities required for inventory stock and forwards for pricing and ordering. Negotiate terms with suppliers. Participate in the evaluation of various materials. Arrange demonstrations of new products.

Organize and maintain warehouse and inventory areas for efficient material storage and handling, including labeling, stocking, and organizing stock items on shelving. Work closely with inventory control specialists in all aspects of warehouse and distribution functions.

Develop, coordinate, and maintain daily staffing schedules to ensure the appropriate level of unit coverage and continuity of care.

Monitor time and attendance in alignment with MU Health Care policies and practices, ensuring accuracy of records and timely submittal/approval for payroll purposes.

May complete unit/department-specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities can be acquired.

Three (3) years of experience in surgical services, operations, inventory control, distribution, or warehouse.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

One (1) year of supervisor experience.

Surgical Technologist or Sterile Processing certification.

Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
