Physician Assistant - Vascular Surgery

Clinical Duties:

• Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to the peripheral vascular disease patient population primarily in the ambulatory setting, but may also require occasional work in the inpatient, operative, and procedural settings.
• Performs complete history and physical examinations.
• Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
• Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
• Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
• Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including consult notes, progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and admission/discharge summaries.
• Performs procedures as appropriate to the patient population, including but not limited to venous care and temporal artery biopsies.
• Participates in the Vascular Surgery Advanced Practice Provider of the Day urgent care coverage.

Licenses/Certification/Registration:

• Current Massachusetts licensure as a Physician Assistant.

• Current Physician Assistant certification.

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, desirable.

Education:

• Master's degree Physician Assistant Studies.

• Graduate of an accredited physician assistant studies program.

Experience:

• 2 years clinical experience caring for patients with peripheral vascular disease, desirable.

• Workingknowledge of Epic electronic health record, desirable.

Fiscal Responsibility:

• Maintains eligible enrollment with contracted health insurance providers.

• Completes documentation and submits charges for reimbursement in a timely manner.

• Actively participates in the fiscal health of the department through the revenue cycle and expense management processes.

Working Conditions:

• Ambulatory care, medical office, acute care hospital environments.

• Includes work at acute care hospitals and community-based ambulatory health care centers.

• Occasional travel for off-site training sessions and meetings.
